15. Because they're already popular fandoms and popular fandoms naturally bring in more people which naturally bring in more yaoi shippers

Actual yaoi can't be as widespread or broadcasted as, say, a young teen's shonen anime, so, less people to watch it/become part of the fandom

+ Everyone else's comments that people seem to just plain like writing about non-canon gay, and when it's already there for them, there's less compulsion to fanart/write it

Kind of like how you won't see much hentai fanart of an already hentai series, I guess?

God knows Secret Plot doesn't have a big fanbase going for it, and not just because it's old

That is pretty much how I discuss these sort of things as well, BUT on the other hand me and my friends ahve known each other for long long time and know that none of us are paragons of good taste and as such can discuss those things without shame. Perhaps the OP is just so unfortunate, they have no friends with which they can lower themselves to discussing if wrinkly old doctorts did the nasty with each other. Poor them.
