6. A relative of mine met his partner before the war. When they both went off to fight, his partner had him reassigned to his division to keep him safe. They both survived and lived really long lives together. So yeah, it happened.

12. I can't help giggling at that picture.

15. People feel a greater need to "fix it" in fandoms without canon gayness. In places that it already exists, you just get less because they're already together. I don't know why it works that way, but it does.

16. Oh man! I want Maid Guy to come to my house and be my maid! He's just made of awesome! Sure, the show is wacky and has fanservice up to your eyeballs and I didn't like that loli crap they pulled last episode, but still. Maid Guy Vision = Win!

add this on to the other reasons i said above

also: shonen animes like the ones mentioned tend to have a giant fucking cast for potential gay

actual yaoi manga

well, let's use FAKE

Dee, Ryo, JJ, Rose, Drake and Ted

not a whole lot of options for people

Also, you get your choice of pairings. With canon, it's provided. Sure you can break it up and shake it around, but people tend to like the provided couples...just not enough to work with them.

Not to mention that I find it a challenge to work with characters and get them together in a believable manner...but not everyone's going for believable.

Not the OP or anything, but just wanted to say that that's a really sweet story :)

6. Oh that's awesome. How did they not get in trouble? Both during the war and after it? Like did they pretend to be living together just to keep each other company as bachelors or something?

They were very discreet about things. They might not have even done anything back then, but I doubt it. As was mentioned, it was war, people needed comfort. They never spoke of it though. My relative did not like to speak of the war at all because he had lots of horrible memories. He lost a brother and overall, it was very traumatic.

His partner did have a wife and some children at some point, but he left them and lived out the rest of his life with my relative. We didn't really know much about that other family. It was always our two uncles. Nobody ever called them gay, because it would have been rude. They were very private about things, so even if you knew, you didn't speak of it.
