And y'know, even if they HAVEN'T seen the old episodes, it really does not, I'm sorry, make them bad fans or unappreciative of the history of the character/show. Hell, are you trying to tell me that if someone has the audacity to voice an opinion that they genuinely don't care for the old episodes, they have no right whatsoever in enjoying the new episodes or, heaven forbid, a pairing between two characters?
Again, it does not make you or anybody who favours "Old Who" superior in ANY way, and I'm getting sick of people (not limited to you, mind) jumping on the bandwagon that somehow those who got into Who through NEW Who are in any way less worthy to enjoy a television show.

And I can't speak for all of those icon makers but I know at least one of them likes Classic Who and has interest in the background and history of the character and show. Additionally "I love you, you understand" is from a canon song that seems to be about their relationship, judging from the lyrics and what happens in Runaway Bride when it plays. The other icons just have random shippy text (although "forever" is a valid canon theme between the two). There's nothing about them that equates to not appreciating the history or what have you.

Ha. I'm glad to know my icon is "bad" just because it's of a ship the fandom loves to hate. But yes, I loves me some Classic Who. I've seen "Unearthly Child" both the aired version and the Pilot version. I've read some Classic Who novels. I've got audio versions of some the missing episodes on special order through the library (because if I can't watch it, I'll listen to it), etc.
Please don't judge people just on the fact they happen to have icons of things they like. It doesn't mean we're "not interested in the background and history of the show."
