There's nothing wrong with being annoyed by that, but it is also annoying when obnoxious Conrad/Conyuu fans do the equal with "Wolfram is so annoying blah blah blah" and proceed to ignore how much growth the character has experienced in favor of their ship. I love Conrad to death, but some of his fans irk me.

And Wolfram is NOTHING like Draco! If you see it like that, you are SADLY not paying attention to the series. Wolfram *CHANGES*, he experiences GROWTH throughout the series. Are we watching the same anime? He goes from a spoiled brat (and you could argue he has damn good reasons to be that way) that hates humans to a character that lays his life on the line for Humans, takes care of a Human daughter (and yes, it is obvious how much he cares for Greta), vows to make sure that Yuuri's "vision" of peace between Humans and Mazoku is completed in his absence, etc. How is he like Draco again? Do you *REALLY* think that his fans only like him because he's cute? I love him because he's not perfect, he has FLAWS, and he changes. Maybe there are some fans that don't see past the pretty, but that gives no one an excuse to misinterpret his character just because of them.

People need to quit letting their hatred of a character get in the way of what's right there in their faces.

Blind affection for a character may also prevent people from seeing what's right in their faces... like the fact that other people have a right to interpret the series as they will. It also apparently puts words in people's mouths~

I never said that all fans only like him because he's cute, for example. I never even insinuated it. Although I think an essential point here is that we're both irritated at fans who only babble over how sweeeeeet and cuuuuutteee Wolfram is. What I did say is that I am neutral to the character, and I am neutral because there is nothing I want to explore about him. I didn't say I hated him, and I didn't say he was annoying, and I didn't say he didn't experience growth.

I actually think that Wolfram is a fair bit like Draco (which isn't an insult!). Hell, they're even both blond aristocrats. Draco changes. And experiences growth. Yes, I think we are watching the same anime. Draco starts off as a spoiled brat, with damn good reason. He's been raised to privilege and the wizarding aristocracy, with every whim granted, and the first time he probably was ever told no was by Harry. He changes from a snotty little self-centered brat to someone is sicked by an actual death of a 'Mudblood', who can put aside petty rivalries when it matters, who can grieve over his friends, and would do anything to protect his family. No, he doesn't end up crusading for peace between muggles and wizards, but he does want an end to fighting in the wizarding world.

I also think people are enamored of the fact that Wolfram IS similar, and does grow more than Draco does in canon. The main staple of most Harry/Draco fics IS Draco redeeming himself further than he was in canon, and turning all the way into a 'good guy' rather than what he is. To me, Wolfram/Yuuri is another way of exploring this angle of Harry/Draco. Sure, it's not entirely identical, but to me there is nothing in the character dynamic that I want to explore.

Bah, whatever, however you like your Wolfram, go ahead. Fandom's for fun, the less time wanking about, moar time for porn.

I can't deny that you raise good points, but I simply disagree with the Draco-Wolfram comparison -- mainly because, in canon, he doesn't experience nearly as much growth as Wolfram has, among other things (his hatred of Humans doesn't have that much to do with Draco's hatred of Mudbloods -- Draco hates Mudbloods because of the brainwashing about lineage, Wolfram hates Humans cause of the Wars and having seen Dan Hiri aged and realizing that his brother was half-breed and would die sooner than later, which prompts him to "hate" his brother as a way to protect himself).

Agreed with the wanking though, it needs to stop. I'm sorry to have contributed to it with my image, but I put that out there in response to a secret from last month that did everything I mentioned in my image. Had I come across the wank from a few days ago before I had submitted said image, I wouldn't have bothered. *sigh*
