Are the 10/Martha shipper as OTPish? I actually liked Rose/Doctor for a while until I got tired of the attitude in practically every other fic that Rose was the first and last companion the doctor ever loved, or ever would love. That somehow they'd reached some higher plain of soul bonding. To me that's disrespectful of all the previous companions, many of whom I also love.

Admittedly, I haven't read much martha/Doctor fic so I don't know if they do the same thing, or if they acknowledge that he gave his heart to many of his companions over the many, many, many years.

Are the 10/Martha shipper as OTPish?

I don't know about fanfic (I haven't read any), but there is just as much character bashing and silly theories and wank from their side.

And I haven't read any Doctor/Rose fics where it explicitly states that she is the only companion he's ever loved. This isn't to say they don't exist though. I'm sure they do.

Myself, I acknowledge that the Doctor loved each and every single companion deeply- and continued to do so with Martha and Donna after Rose left. However, the Doctor and Rose are the only ones I see a romantic connection between (not to imply that Rose is the first person he ever fell in love with, I don't believe that at all). I know he loves them all. There are all types of love, after all. And I don't see what's bad about that, but a lot of people seem to see it as a problem.

I do have a feeling I might end up shipping Two/Jamie once I see those episodes though.

It's true -- I do see more Rose bashing. But I also see more Rose smugness, too. I'm not sure that the Roseshippers realize that they are being obnoxious at times with it -- they love their ship, and a majority of the people around them feel the same way. In fact, 90 percent of all fic for Doctor Who coming out on a daily basis is Rose/10 or Rose/9. For those who don't particularly ship Rose, the little bits of smugness that come through in the discussions are particularly irksome -- sort of rubbing it in.

Good luck finding the Two/Jamie episodes. Sadly most of them were lost or incomplete. Sucks.

Well I'm not big on the fic part of the fandom. I never really go over to Teaspoon, for example, unless someone directly recs a fic. It is definitely the most active shipping fandom though, I would never argue that.

But I would also consider (some of) the frequent Martha is AWESOME to hold a level of smugness as well. And definitely the Romana fen can be guilty of it. I really don't think one side is better or worse than the other.

There are detailed recaps on the BBC site for a lot of the missing ones so hopefully that will help!

Very possibly Marthashippers are being obnoxious, too. I don't read her fic either, and I haven't read much meta about her. Most of what I see of the wank actually is what bleeds over into other forums -- mainly the wank communities -- and a bit that shows up in the fics themselves (when I read them, okay, yeah I admit I still sometimes read Rosefic). I didn't even realize Teaspoon had a forum on it. I just go there for the fic.

Dude, there are like 3 active Romana shippers out there. They are hardly stinking up the general communities with their ship-love. What they do in their own little pairing specific communities is their business.

Recaps are tantalizing... but really unsatisfying. I've gone that route myself. They just reminded me of all the awesomeness that doesn't exist anymore because people were short-sighted and taped over the masters. And they are in all kinds of stages of completion and throughness which doesn't help. That said, you got any good links for them, because mine are shitty.

See and that's how I feel about the Doctor/Rose fans and that's how I feel about whatever bad fic they might write as well. I feel like except for pimping stuff, they're actually pretty quiet in a lot of places. I think they didn't used to be like that, but they've sort of... retreated into private corners of fandom recently. I know I sort of feel like... I'm not welcome there? It's not as if I don't want to talk about other aspects of the series (I really want to), but things like the sentiments behind the original secret are a good example of why I feel like I'm not welcome on general forums. I know other D/R shippers feel the same, which is why they've quieted down in non shippy places.

That said, you got any good links for them, because mine are shitty.

Yeah I know, it's such a let down that they taped over them.

I'm pretty sure we are hanging out in different parts of fandom (but then you aren't that fic oriented, and I'm mostly fic oriented, so that's probably to be expected).

I've discovered in all ship wars its usually just a couple people who rabble rouse, and the rest are just reacting to defend their tastes. But I admit, I don't really give the Rosefen that much slack in this, mostly because, hey they are the majority by a long shot.

Actually the shipping thing dividing up the fandom happened in my old fandom as well. I was/am huge into Fullmetal Alchemist, and there was once a huge bruhaha between the most popular het ship and the most popular slash ship. It got complicated and lots of new communities got formed, but the wank pretty much died down to nothing once the het shippers exiled themselves to their own communities.
