You wouldn't be fit to drive, but an average middle of the road bottle of wine consumed over the course of a couple of hours you'd probably be able to hold down a conversation unless you get drunk really easily. You can always reuse the cork or if a screw top put the top back on and a bottle of red will be okay for a couple of days. Wine does go off and degrade (unless it is malmsey, supposedly) but you can still stretch it over a couple of days even by reusing the cork or screw top.
