I haven't read it in years so I don't know if it's still going, but I think the three main characters looked totally different? You had the uke, who had short, slightly wild hair and was smaller compared to the semes. Then you had Seme #1, Japanese yakuza guy, who was burly, had slicked back hair, and smoked. Then Seme #2, Chinese triad guy, who looked like a woman.

I don't remember any other character, and I read through the Hong Kong arc.

The mangaka has a pretty and very distinctive style, but I can only agree, the character designs were very different. I never had any trouble recognising them (even with the side characters).
