I'm OP and I agree. I would be really annoyed if Square Enix chose to make one of the pairings canon. I think it's much more interesting to let them stay ambiguous and let fans make up their own minds. And, assuming Square Enix doesn't fuck it all up, it should be pretty obvious that nothing is ever going to become "canon", so why even fight about it. I don't mind people talking about why they prefer one of the romantic options over another, but insisting that one is canon really annoys me.

Oh phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want any pairing to actually become canon. Even if it were a pairing I liked I would be angry. Square Enix has already messed up pretty much everything else about FFVII, so I really hope they don't mess that up too.
