I...don't remember KITT being mistreated or treated like just a machine, at all. In fact, I remember an entire episode that was all about KITT being afraid to turbo boost or something after something went wrong and they worked through all his issues.

ISTR KITT had a higher pitched voice than an enemy? named KARR, of all things.

KARR was (mostly) voiced by Peter "Optimus Prime" Cullen, so having a higher voice isn't a huge accomplishment.
