I can't get over Trowa trying to make flute playing look badass. I mean, at least Quatre is self-aware of how gay he is. Trowa cracks me the fuck up.

I mean I get that it's not quite badass, but a flute well-played is seriously beautiful and amazing. Have you ever listened to, say, James Galway? It's like magic.
The problem is in shows like this that they never fork out the money for some quality musical recordings, so it just comes off as half-assed.

Oh no I have all the respect for the flute. It's just Trowa's haircut combined with his stoic and cool personality, you'd expect him to rock the electric guitar or something. Instead he jams on a flute. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it makes me lol.

Now that I think about it, when was the last time an anime character who had a musical hobby just played guitar? It never seems to happen.

Only because that particular artist drew them that way. They weren't nearly that gay in the show. Same goes for Heero and Duo, doubly more so in fact since they could hardly stand each other.

(Quatre and Trowa, that is. You'd need blinders to ignore the subtextual romance. Heero/Duo I can agree is a matter of interpretation and personal interest one way or the other)

No, it's I rewatch that anime periodically and call bullshit on the fans insisting they are ~so teh gay~ when they really weren't. Especially since Quatre was ~pretty gay~ with even Heero.

Yeah, gonna go with Quatre and Trowa's relationship was written deliberately and if they were het, they'd be considered canon. And I rewatch it periodically, too. The fact that the anime constantly is pointing out how special and important they are to each other at critical character moments is obvious enough.
