I'm pretty sure we're all on some kind of watch list. I mean, I've googled some stuff that probably has me on a watch list. I spent a few days researching torture methods and the psychology behind them for a fic and before that, I googled body disposal methods and ways to incapacitate and kill people.

I'm always googling weird shit for writing purposes. I write action stuff, so lots of death related stuff.

I remember watching a documentary about the lack of privacy on the internet - I forget what it was called, but it's on Netflix - but it showed how the gov't is able to trace your google searches, and they did one example of someone who googled really gross murder/stalking shit. Turned out, the guy was a writer for some CSI type show.

One of the characters I write fanfic of works with explosives in canon. I couldn't bring myself to google bombmaking so googled fireworks and bullshit the rest.

This is probably why I'd just find a library instead. Not that I'm ever planning to anything bad but I prefer privacy. My life is so boring and I'm a quiet pushover so the thought of anyone sticking their nose in my business just seems pathetic.
