I would assume because

a) tumblr tagging means one-word tags are preferable to multi-word tags
b) it's easier to remember and search for than dozens of variations of "non-Serum Steve Rogers/Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes"
c) easier to search and categorize it on Ao3 and ff.net
d) shrinkyclinks really isn't a very confusing ship name, especially compared to many fandoms' ship terms

It's confusing to me. I would never have guessed that's what it was referring to without seeing the explanation down here and even now that I know what it refers to it's more like, "*headtilt*...I guess I can see it..."

Wait until you get into stuff like Shrunkyclunks (Captain America!Steve/Modern!Bucky because THAT name makes sense). Or Shrunkyclinks which I have seen but have no idea what is it. Modern!Muscle Steve/Wintersoldier!Bucky?
