Irish comedian. Like, why diss her over not knowing something when you can't even get her blatantly obvious nationality right? Pot, kettle etc.

ETA: If it wasn't the OP that made this error but whoever is captioning the secrets, then apols, but whoever it was, can you change it?

Pretty sure just Case just puts whatever the secret submitters put for the caption

So, in that case, it's the OP who needs to have a word with themselves before getting their knickers in a knot over someone else's limited grasp of basic biographical facts.

Fixed now. Cheers, Case!

For the confused among you, the OP got Aisling's nationality wrong.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-16 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
No, really? I couldn't tell after all your comments on the topic, lol

(Anonymous) 2017-02-16 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's a persistent problem - famous Irish people are often, through ignorance or laziness, labelled as British by overseas media for whom simple fact checks are too much effort and are sometimes expected to take this as a compliment!

It certainly renders the OP's secret criticising Aisling a bit silly if they can't even get their own basic facts straight.

OP is some rando on the internet. The comedian in question is a captain (?) on a quiz show. OP was wrong, but I kind of think that if you're the head of a team, higher standards probably apply to you and knowing the background of the members of your team is part of the job, especially if it just takes a peek on wikipedia.

It's a comedy panel show - generally, all the panelists are comedians. Getting the answer right and winning the quiz is a negligible part of the show. The quiz element is just an excuse for the comedians to riff off the topics raised by the questions and deliberate wrong answers for comic effect is a big part of it. It's the team captain's job to be funny, not to know everything

Oh, I don't expect them to know everything. But it seems like knowing the basics about the people who are appearing that week isn't asking much. Like I said, two minutes on Wikipedia is plenty. That's not a real high bar, tbh.
