Well, in spite of my mother supposedly being careful, the hotel I'm staying at for the bar is a 15 minute drive from the bar location (on a good day, I'll be driving in the morning with rush-hour traffic) when she thought somehow it was walking distance. And we looked and all the other hotels closer are now full.

So I'll be taking the car and driving to the bar in the morning. Which is frustrating. I like to be able to just walk there. It gives me more time to study in the morning. And at the end of the day I'm exhausted and don't want to drive. I'm most nervous about the third day because I'll probably be massively sleep deprived at that point.

Also frustrated because it means I won't be able to drink post-bar. I'll have to wait until I drive home. :( All I want to do when the exam is over usually is drink and then sleep.

You didn't book your own hotel, I take it? I always like to doublecheck with Googlemaps.

No. My mother was paying using her credit card, and she's usually good at this sort of thing. I should have checked though.

Uber. Taxi. Bus. At least two of the three should be able to get you where you need to go.

If I have to drive rather than walk, I'd rather be in control. I'd be more worried about the taxi not showing up or missing the bus.

I understand. I'm taking the bar next week for the first time, and am terrified I'll be hit by a falling piano on the way there or something. I booked my hotel so it's in walking distance and my mother generously paid for it, which is awesome. My father tried to talk me into a cheaper hotel, but I'm way too anxious for that. He's not paying for it anyway.

Good luck. I'm sure you can do it. But yes, it is extremely stressful. I worry about everything that could possibly go wrong. The last time my hotel was attached to the convention center where the bar was, so that was nice. Just a walk right through. But not this time. And I've never been to Austin before (Texas bar was only offered in Austin this time). So I'm going to have to do several test runs on Monday when I drive up there.
