What I always loved about A Scandal in Bohemia was the way Holmes was like just a speedbump in Irene's life and while he's all brooding over her getting away, there's no reason to believe she isn't off just getting on with her life and not giving a shit. Having Irene be the one to be more affected is the *opposite* of what's supposed to happen.

No, I get that, and I agree. That's why I said I hate what the writing did to her. I still love the character though. I just hate how they ultimately derailed her.

I was agreeing with you! I think Irene being a dominatrix and everything was fine. Where they went with her after that was completely not in keeping with the spirit of the character.
