I've found myself getting a little resentful that fic about pairing-I-like is not fic about rarepair-I-love and it's making it hard to just relax and enjoy fic.

Also I am kind of sad because recent canon stuff has soured a lot of my favorite authors on one half of the pairing so instead of Tom and Bob are falling in love or happily together, a lot of the more recent fic is more Bob-critical and Tom breaking up with Bob because he's a jerk or Bob needing to realize the awful and shitty things he did in canon are awful and shitty.

Also on a personal fic-writer note, something similar happened with my favorite pair to write (in an entirely different fandom than the stuff I've been writing) where half of me wants to ignore how awful Bill's been in canon lately and just write happy things where he didn't become a jerk. And on the other hand I want to write the same "BILL'S A JERK. THIS BEHAVIOR IS NOT COOL OR HEALTHY." fic so I'm not just being one of Bill's stans who make excuses for everything he does.
