I'm still bitter that they broke up her and Jimmy. I disagree with the writers on that one. They were not a bad pairing. They worked. It made sense. There was so much chemistry. And then, suddenly, the writers decided to drop them as a couple. Bleh.

They dropped Jimmy? Boo. I'm way behind on Supergirl, but that kind of sucks.
On the other hand, does this mean they trashed the love triangle, because I am all for fewer love triangles in the world.

The character's still on the show, but they dropped their love story. It was so fake...

The character is still there, but they dropped Jimmy/Kara. The writers decided they were better off as friends. After spending an entire season building up to their kiss and then relationship.

TBH I can hardly imagine anyone having romantic chemistry with the fella on the right, and I don't even mean that in an ugly!anon way, he looks like a perfectly nice person, just in an extraordinarily boring way

I agree. Not my type, but even besides that, nothing stands out about him. He's just boringly attractive. He actually acts okay. But I just don't see the attraction.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what he's like in Supergirl, but he killed it as Kai in S6 of The Vampire Diaries. And was not boring at all. Maybe Supergirl just isn't giving him much to work with.

Chris Woods is bangin' hot, but he just has zero sexual chemistry with Melissa.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good, I'm not the only one on this comm who thinks he is damn fine.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually found him very attractive as a villain on The Vampire Diaries but he had actual charisma there so...nothing like on Supergirl :) He also had incredible chemistry with one of the main actresses on TVD, though I didn't ship their characters at all.

Really dislike that dynamic on Supergirl, too --

I don't even think it's the actor's fault; he's probably perfectly capable of delivering lines. But he doesn't jibe with Melissa Benoist, and the script paints him as a whiny douchebag (especially when we compare how Kara interacts with Cat, James, Lena...)

I kind of wish Kara never had any romantic relationships. She just works better without them. Let Alex lead the romance on the show. But I get that they set up from the start that she wants romance, so yeah. But I agree, less than zero chemistry.

+1. I like Jimmy a lot, but when he and Kara were dating-not-dating it was fucking annoying. And I like Mon-El when he's not around Kara, too. Come to think of it, when Winn was in a romance triangle with Kara he turned into a whiny asshole too. Kara/Lena is going perfectly well, though, lots of chemistry, lots of flirting. And it's not just Kara, because the J'onn/M'gann thing isn't great either.

Okay, all the people on this show are perfectly fine, but apparently the writers cannot write het romance at all. Maybe they should just go with everyone's gay?

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I wanted Alex/Lena so hard. :(

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
They can't write relationships, period. I am so sick of the Unexpressed Feelings and Stupid Misunderstandings and especially the utterly ludicrous Personal! Crises! arising from things that the characters could have simply told each other with their mouths using words and stuff.

Example, we're not going to hear that Mon-El is the prince until someone lands on Earth looking for him and Kara will be all, "Say what now?"

P.S. Totally up for everyone being gay or bi (especially Winn!) but I do want them to lose this perpetual Character is Butthurt Because of Trifle thing.

Concurred so much, anon!

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
You got that right, no chemistry. I don't think they work on paper either. It's just like they bicker and don't really understand each other but I'm suppose to believe that means they have feelings for each other. It's weak.

So, I don't watch this show, because I couldn't stand Kara in its pilot, but I've caught a couple of this thread's comments in flat-view and have been hit both with the overwhelming urge to give it a shot AND confirmation that I made the right choice in skipping it.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearly you should watch the show. Kara is kind of amazing as the series progresses. She has killer chemistry with Jimmy in the first season (and in the second), she has killer chemistry with Cat throughout the first season (that relationship is brilliant once you get a few eps in and the show stabilizes), she's got killer chemistry with Lena in the second season, and the show in the first few eps of season 2 absolutely NAILS Superman. Watch the show. And then just do like I do in the second season and pretend she's banging Lena and not Mon-El.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The hatred for Mon-El is so ridiculously over the top and clearly based in ship wars for the vast majority so it's hard to take seriously. (Also: the Kara/James stuff was tedious and had much less chemistry, while the love triangles in season 1 with James and Winn and with Lois' sister whose name I can't remember were, well, love triangles, which is always a bad choice, so I can only see this season as an improvement.) That's all I have to say about that.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-23 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hi, I don't have a ship in the war, I just think that A) there is no chemistry between Kara and Mon-el, especially since all he does is let her down, honestly, and B) it's a special kind of uncomfortable for me to have this "girl doesn't like boy, boy confesses his feelings, girl and boy fight a bunch, girl suddenly likes boy" plot on /Supergirl/, which has been so adamantly, sometimes ridiculously, girl-power. I'd rather have Kara be single than have her be dragged through the mud for this.
