I love Scott but I definitely agree that they did the show no favors by having his romantic entanglements be so damn important. The friendship between Scott and Stiles was the main thing I was interested in (you know, besides all the teenage werewolfing) and it seemed like as the TW universe got bigger, that friendship got smaller.

Wouldn't that be a problem that comes up with most shows centered around a specific relationship, though? If you don't have a set plan over seasons, it runs the risk of devolving into endless, stupid drama. I think the close friendship is fundamentally the same as a romantic relationship, in that sense.

I would have vastly preferred a series in which Scott and Stiles (and Allison and Lydia, since those four are my faves) going up against the supernatural. Which is basically what season 1 and 2 were, even though the Scott/Allison relationship was painful at times. But it seemed like the farther along the story went, the larger the cast grew, and the plot seemed to get away from what made it initially interesting. Not to mention, haha, for a while even the show seemed to forget that Scott was the main character.

Granted, I only watched to 3b so I've missed a bit of this show.

Yeah, I quit a little before that, too. Scott/Allison was pretty meh. It's a shame they completely lost the Scott+Stiles core, though.

Oh good, there are other people who love Scott besides me and my best friend. Sometimes I wonder.

I liked the basic idea of Scott. And he was adorable and clueless the first season. But the writing did him zero favors and his cluelessness and refusal to learn or listen really did him in for me.

But he has so much possibility! And yeah, his and Stiles' relationship is great.

Yeah, we're out here! Google Scott McCall Defense Squad. They can be really annoying but they love Scott. Also, this (completely sfw fanart).
