Agreed.

I honestly just think it's a case of awful writing, and then passive aggressive writing when the fans latched onto themes and characters Jeff Davis didn't want them to.

To me the show was really about the Hale family. I understand needing the newbie to introduce the audience to the world of werewolves etc, but I did not care about Scott's story much. I would have rather he be taken in by Derek (or whatever Hale other than Peter) and it all be about their history and the suffering at the hands of Hunters etc.
