"The Naming" by Alison Croggon? (Part of the Pellinor series)
I was recced it on another group, but they're awfully unreliable with recs to my mind, and a good chunk of the things they like, I hate. So I am looking for a second opinion.
Is it very YA? Is it good?

(if anybody else wants to ask about media, change the subject line and go for it)

Does it end with any sort of resolution or closure, even if there are still unanswered questions?

Very late answer, but I personally liked it a lot, and I generally like high fantasy YA series.

It's rather long-winded, and checks a lot of the epic fantasy cliches (a Chosen One heroine saved from a terrible former life, long journey to defeat the Big Bad Evil, rather predictable romantic resolution), but overall I thought it was a good read. I'm not sure what you mean by "very YA", but it is about teenage protagonists rather than adults, yeah.
