Just chiming in to say I feel you on this. I have basically never had a drink with alcohol in it where the alcohol didn't ruin the flavor. Like, in order for it to still taste good, I would have to put so little booze in that I'd never get buzzed. I honestly think some people just have more taste receptors for alcohol, or something. I don't know how else to explain it.

That said, the one booze drink I actually like is Strongbow apple cider (the Gold kind, not the British Dry kind). However, at 4.5% alcohol, they're not the best if you're trying to get a buzz on.

I'm inclined to agree with the people who are suggesting you just do shots. And then, once you're good and buzzed, see if you're better able to tolerate a mixed drink.
