He likes the new movies which are extremely different from the show. I like the movies. I tried watching the show and hated it.

Same. I loved the movies, so I thought I'd give the show a try and ended up really not liking it. It's not at all hard to see how someone could like one and not the other given that they're two pretty much completely different things.

Ah, so you have shit taste and feel threatened which is why you're acting so defensively around this entire thread.

Lol. Okay?

Ah, so you are a die-hard obsessive who really thinks not liking TNG is a good reason to break up with someone?

/hint: it SO isn't. The weakest, saving Enterprise, of the whole stable imo. The idea that someone who doesn't like it has bad taste is laughable and you just showed your stannish arse in public.

AYRT
But you tried it. They have enough similarities that many people like both, and you can't tell if you will be one of those people if you don't even try it. Refusing to even try it is a warning sign, imo. (I mean, I wouldn't break up over it if it were the only thing wrong, but it really rubs me the wrong way.)

A warning sign that he doesn't want to watch it.

I don't like tomatoes. I don't care how much you try to tell me that this or that food is delicious, if it has tomatoes in it, I don't want to try it. Period.

My dad was a major Trekkie while I was young ( we watched Original series, TNG, and Deep Space Nine, along with all the old movies) and while I didn't *hate* them, they really weren't 'super wonderful amazing' to me, personally, even when I went back and re-watched as an adult. However, the newer movies? I love them. It's ridiculous for people to be insisting the boyfriend has to watch. My husband and I have shows we like together, and shows only one likes and the other will absolutely not view. We're still married! And love each other! We're adults who realize everyone has their own likes and dislikes... and if one of us isn't interested, we don't act like dicks about it.
