[Criminal Minds, Alvez/Garcia]

Nah, I totally feel the same way. I did ship Morgan/Garcia (and still love that pairing even now), but Luke and Garcia have a cute thing going, too. I especially like Luke being so good-natured about Garcia's attitude towards him thus far, not being all pushy or trying to make her like him. I've been liking his character in general since he joined the cast, really-he's a good dude and seems like a total sweetheart.

So yeah. Ship away, I say!

(I feel the same way about Luke and Reid. Morgan/Reid is another favorite pairing of mine, but I can get on board with Alvez/Reid, too. Especially after the last couple episodes.)

I kinda agree. I wasn't too invested in Morgan/Garcia, either platonically or romantically. But, I really ended up hating Eric Delko from CSI Miami, and by extension having a negative reaction when I saw the actor being cast. I never got over Beth (Hotch's GF) because her actress played such a terribly mean character and I couldn't dissociate, no matter how lovely the Beth character was. But, I am really surprised how much I have enjoyed Luke.

I think the writers of Criminal Minds really do a good job of finding ways to introduce new characters that is easy on the fans. Filling Morgan's shoes is a huge job but Luke is fitting right in. I like the other new guy too. I think (just as I did for CSI) that the new actors are bringing new blood and new life to the show. I won't say I'm enjoying it more now because I miss Hotch but I am enjoying it just as much as ever.

I'm still behind on the current season but so far Alvez is such a sweetheart and I LOVE how careful he's being with Garcia and integrating with the team in general.

Me too. I put off all crime shows for the last month of bar studying. But Criminal Minds is the first thing I'm going to catch up on, probably starting tomorrow. And Alvez is a sweatheart so far.

I don't really ship on this show (other than a bit JJ/Will), but I do like Alvez. I wasn't expecting to because I did not like the actor's CSI character. But Alvez is very different. I'm enjoying his addition. He isn't Morgan 2.0, which is good.

Yeah, I wasn't ecstatic when the actor was cast because I didn't care for him on CSI: Miami... but then I didn't really like CSI: Miami, period! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Alvez. You're also spot on about him not being Morgan 2.0. He was clearly cast to be the physical, athletic male team member like Morgan was, but he's not a carbon copy.
