Not even a sports anime series with ten times the number of episodes as this one had would ever spend any time showing the audience all the matches that don't involve the heroes unless there were a compelling plot reason to do so.

Of course I wouldn't expect YOI fans to actually know anything about other sports anime. Focusing on other teams is important and happens all the time. In fact it's YOI's biggest weakness and they could have done with some more focus and character depth and motivations outside just a couple minutes in one episode . But I guess that gets in the way of Victuri screentime, huh?
