OP, are you me? I thought there was way too much time spent on skating routines of people I didn't care about, too! (Like seriously, I didn't need to know about that guy who was gonna jizz over his skating routine) Like, I wouldn't be too upset if I didn't feel like too much was focussed on these routines at the expense of character development for the main guys. I feel like Viktor got a raw deal. I'd rather have them cut out or down some of the skating routines to get some more backstory for the ACTUAL LOVE INTEREST OF THE SHOW lol.

I waited the entire show expecting Victor's implied flakiness to be developed into a real flaw or something. I don't think it's too much to ask for him to get... a character arc? No? Maybe they're saving it for the second season, but it felt lacking.

Basically how I feel. Like, my best friend loved Viktor and constantly gushed about him so I was always waiting for the moment when he'd get backstory and development and it just never came. I was so confused because honestly we know more about JJ than we do about Viktor which seems like a really bizarre storytelling choice. But w/e.

I like him because he's beautiful and always a joy to watch on screen. Really the main trio were all likable. But aside from Yuri, I think the other two could have used more substance to their stories.

Huh. I didn't know that, and this makes me even more baffled. Honest to god for most of show Victor had me thinking, "This guy's too perfect. They'd better not pull a k-drama reveal at the 11th hour and tell us he's dying this whole time and that's why he's all mysterious."

You wouldn't be the only one who was surprised. Apparently Viktor's seiyuu thought he was manipulating Yuuri early on, and got it greenlit from the voice director to play him that way.
