Pretty much every pairing in Sailor Moon was more intriquing then the Usagi and Mamoru pairing-- because it was pretty much they got together in the first season and then all the rest of the seasons it was them dying and then regenerating ad naseaum. I think that the best part of Mamoru and Usagi's relationship was the various people sent in to try to fudge it up-- at least that broke up the monotony.

I don't totally disagree but I was never actively bored by Usagi and Mamoru either, and they had a fair share of good episodes (like the two parter in S where Usagi is targeted by the Death Busters).

Still the other couples are more interesting I agree... and I kinda ship Usagi with some others as well.

Or manufactured drama like in, what, Sailor Moon R where he saw the visions of destruction and thought, "Gee, to keep Usako safe, let me just...crush her 15 year old heart and treat her like shit to keep her away from me!! Yeah, that'll work!! :D"

UUUUUUUGH.

I love R, but that subplot was such crap and I really DID feel sorry for Usagi.

Murphy's Law states that if your relationship is a big f'king deal-- the more likely it is for the universe to try to fudge it up.

In Mamoru's defense, the season before that he had dreams about meeting the moon princess that turned out to be true. So I don't blame him for freaking out and making the (admittedly stupid) decisions he made.

What bothered me was that it turned out King Endymion, aka Mamoru's future self, sent those dreams. Endymion explained with some bullshit about protecting Usagi and Mamoru's relationship but it sounded stupid. And I really wish Mamoru had called him out for that.
