GTA has always had an element of satire to it that is totally lost on most of its fans. At its core it's pretty much stealing cars and shooting people and causing mayhem. The game progresses by doing missions for people, some of which have unique elements that don't appear in the main game, such as stealth sequences.

GTA5 is the most recent and most popular game in the series, largely because it comes bundled with GTA Online.

Your protagonist would probably like it for running people over and stuff, but I suspect that some of the more nuanced humor would go over his head, especially anything political. Partly because he's a teenager who seems to be a bit full of himself and partly because he's in the UK.

To sum things up, GTA5/GTAOnline, CoD, and Dark Souls 3 (multiplatform)/Bloodborne (PS4 only) are probably your best bets.
