One thing that amuses me is the vertical elements in a lot of TV apartments and houses. There are so many TV houses where you come in the front door and have to walk down two steps into the rest of the living room. I have never in my life been in a house or apartment that works like that (although I have been in split level houses where you walk several steps UP from the entryway to get into the main part of the living room).

That or everyone has a conversation pit in a house or apartment that does not date to the conversation pit era (although the show might have). Yes, of course your rambling, old Victorian-era house/converted 19th century factory loft apartment has a conversation pit. That's exactly what you'd expect to find in that kind of building without a gut remodel.
