One of the world's highest grossing films of all time was Avatar. People have shitty taste :|

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
And lets not even touch the bemystifying ongoing trend that is the Michael Bay Transformers series. I just do not get it.

Or you do.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
In the case of Avatar, it's definitely that people have shitty taste.

I am one of the people who liked the book. I didn't care for the sequels as much, but that one got to me. Out of curiosity, OP, what did you hate so much about it?

I enjoyed all three of the books. I wouldn't say they were amazing, but they were fun reads and I'll wind up rereading them. What didn't you like about them?

I will bite.

What do you dislike about Feed in particular? I mean, it's not the best zombie novel in the universe, but I wouldn't go as far as to qualify it as Trash (I thought the ending was quite brave of the writer, until she undid it in the next two books that yeah, aren't that great and IMHO have a lot of stuff that shouldn't have been written)

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
This! So much.

But I guess it's like Twilight and Fifty Shades and Adam Sandler movies. People will like the crappiest stuff.

Haven't read it and not familiar with the author. What's wrong with it?

Twilight, Fifty Shades, Avatar...as a whole, the masses tend to have shit taste.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh please. In a world where fanfiction is getting turned into books, movies and TV shows FEED is very low on stupidity scale.

I don't know anything about the book, but that's a fairly average rating. It's when something I hate breaks into a four-star average that I get really frustrated.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
i thought this was about that movie about some guy fattening women for his fetish.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed it. It was a romp. Why should it haunt you, exactly?

OP:re what I didn't like

The political thriller elements were so shallow I actually got angry reading it. I couldn't suspend my disbelief around the zombie explanation or any part of the world building because of just how poorly thought out it seemed, though that may be down to the insufferable protagonist and her crappy narration making me not believe a thing she said about her world. She came across as just that dumb and annoying, it was like being lectured about medicine and politics by a 14 year old on reddit. She's written like a bright teen detective running circles around the grown-ups, but the fact that she's supposed to be in her 20s makes her look infantile and pathetic. All the characters were cardboard cutouts and the dialogue was full of bad Hollywood one-liners.
I've read Twilight and dipped into 50 shades and I can understand the appeal. People's romantic fantasies can look silly when you look at them critically. Avatar was hyped because of its use of 3d or effects or whatever. I do not get what fantasy Feed is appealing to.
