Are you really committed to the idea that fandom doesn't make excuses for characters who are hot but also terrible people

Some of fandom does make excuses, but writing in the HTP myself has also made me aware of how much some people like to police other people's likes.

At the end of the day, they're not real, and it's ok to like a villain you find hot. It's ok to write and/or consume stories or porn about a villain you like. It's ok to have a uniform fetish or whatever. It does not mean you share their world view, opinions or politics.

+1. It's the woobification that really irks me, not the focus on villains per se. Villains can be fascinating! But woobifying them just comes off as such a handwave that all of the villainy didn't count, just because.
