I get you OP, I often find it frustrating on multiple ends liking villains because you get the people you've mentioned in your secret who think that because you like a dickbag villain it means you think that their actions are 100% A-okay(wat), and within the villain fans themselves you get the people who legit try to justify the dickbag villain's actions as 'not that bad' or actually 'heroic'(which only serves to give group 1 more ammo).

For me if I like a piece of shit villain it's because they're a piece of shit and I don't think they're a good person or whatever, I just think the story around them is fun/interesting. But that gets lost in fandom a lot tbh on both ends.
