I think the point is to build a wardrobe where everything goes with everything, and not to have 20 pairs of pants and 40 shirts and end up with only four combinations that look good together.

Right, and I don't understand how people didn't realize that they could do this.

Seriously. I have a bunch of black leggings, two pairs of pants, and an addiction to shirts. >.>

Eh, not everyone "gets" clothes. My husband still asks me what clothes go together and I've had several friends who did the same. Some people just don't know what pants/skirts go with what shirt/blouse.

Okay, that's fair. But does your husband think that every shirt only has one pair of pants it can go with and vice versa? Because that's the thing I'm struggling with. I don't understand how anyone, anywhere, can be told, "you can wear the same pair of pants with an array of shirts" and be like, "holy shit mind blown."

Making sure that everything goes with absolutely everything seems weirdly OCD to me.

I mean, some of my clothes will go with everything, and everything will go with multiple things, and I never have to worry about what I'm going to wear in the morning, because even on the rare occasions when I don't pick out my outfit the night before, I've still got plenty of options to mix and match with.

(And wow, that's a lot of shoes.)
