Re: Do you work/what is your job?

The money's a lot better than earning nothing! (: But yes, I had a couple of pretty good years, socked some money away and am moving this year. But I'm tightening my belt, too; due to various reasons earnings are down quite a bit.

It's a lot of work. I got lucky, in a sense, and I'm always learning. The publishing climate is always changing and can throw some real curves.

I also try to get out at least one release a month. You're basically always working on writing, editing, or publishing something, often more than one project at a time. Deadlines are currently self-imposed (since I'm self-published now) but I can't miss too many of them or my editors will not want to keep working with me, or I won't get my releases out on time, etc.

It's pretty stressful sometimes, tbh. It's also pretty hard to pay 1/3 of what I earn to the government in taxes.

But yes, I am fortunate to have this job, and I will continue to work hard at it. Unless some better opportunity comes along for me someday that I'd like to try instead, in which case I may go back to only writing when I feel like it, as a hobby. (That better opportunity would hopefully involves health insurance and a predictable income, and that I can physically do.)
