TBH, I don't think your explanation would've helped. "Balls" just isn't that bad, IMO. And yeah, with a hypothetical threat like that, it's not just that a hypothetical response is warranted, it's that an extreme hypothetical response is warranted because it's an extreme threat. And like I said, "balls" is hardly extreme. Even if the teacher had the delicate sensibilities of a Victorian spinster aunt and balls shocked him to his core, he should've given her a free pass in recognition of the fact that he pretty much set himself up for a response like that by asking what sounds like a rather inappropriate hypothetical question. Smart, experienced teachers don't put themselves in situations where they've essentially declared open season for their students.

A sense of perspective and a sense of humor are valuable traits for a teacher. Doesn't sound like that guy had either one.
