What are some awful (first world) things you have to deal with in life? Current ones or ones from your past.

Mine is getting my t-shirt wet when washing dishes. Ugh.

Oh man, just this week I accidentally bought some Pink Lady apples when what I wanted were Honeycrisp. I didn't want to take them back to the store so I'm eating them and they're nice... but not as nice as Honeycrisps. :(

I HATE when I get a bag of disappointing apples. And I am going to eat every one of those nasty things because I hate wasting food.

Sometimes using them in baked goods really helps if they're mushy or bland. The Pink Ladies I accidentally brought home are fine, just not exactly what I was looking for. They're a little too sweet, I like my apples with a hint of tartness.

Man, if I knew you, I'd be asking for that bag because I LOVE how sweet PL apples are. Yum yum!

Pink Ladies are so good though! You know, I didn't even know that they were first invented in Australia. Good job to us on them apples.

Oh yeah, they're nice! I just prefer a slightly spicier/tarter apple. Honeycrisps tend to be juicier as well, which I like.

Maybe you could make a batch of muffins and stick chunks of apple in them. I did that and it was nice. Or you could grate them and cook them into something, or core them and fill them with brown sugar and muesli and bake them. Just any form of cooking with them.

I'll have them. Pink Ladys are my absolute favourite. :)

Tripping over my own pant leg all the time. My big toe gets hooked in the fabric. Like once a day.

I hate washing dishes for two reasons: one, fishing utensils out of cold dirty water is gross. Two, I get crazy bad dry skin and eczema on my hands and the soap and hot waters them all chapped and raw. I've tried wearing gloves, but I lose like 60% of my fine motor control with them and break things like a complete idiot.

Re: *insert latin chanting here*

(Anonymous) 2017-03-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I hate that about the gloves. We have them because I was hoping to be able to use hotter water to wash the dishes, but if I can't hold the dishes, there's no point. Plus, I think a lot of how I can tell a plate is washed and rinsed properly is through touch, and dishes just aren't as clean when I use them.

Get some Working Hands cream, the green jar they sell at CVS and Joanns. It's for people who craft so much their skin gets rough, but it's saved the hell out of me when I was doing lots of paper mache and constantly getting my hands wet and then dried out.

Well, the past three days in a row, I've had like...phantom alarm clock in my head in the morning. It sounds so realistic, that I got out of the shower once because I thought it was going off.

Cleaning up after my cats when they pee outside the litter box, throw up their food, kick their poop out onto the floor when they overzealously kick at the cat litter, track litter everywhere, knock plants over, knock the salt shaker over, wash, rinse, repeat. I love them but they are terrible roommates.

Cat bite, antibiotics making me sick, splitting headache, cramp, and my period. That's been my day today. I really just want to say "Fuck you" to life and go to sleep until the pain goes away.

My tire blew and I had to wait in a Denny's parking lot for over an hour for a tow truck that was entirely covered by my car insurance's roadside assistance policy, and then had to pay an entire $20 to get the tire changed at their shop. I'm salary, so I didn't have to take PTO for the time I missed from work. But I had to wait OVER AN HOUR guys. In a well-lit parking lot next to a busy highway. With easy access to food and bathrooms.

I missed my bus ten minutes ago and now I have to wait ten more minutes for another. Which I wouldn't mind so much but this bus trip includes twenty minutes of sitting around outside, unlike the bus I missed, and it's cold and dark and I didn't bring a sweater because I didn't think I'd be out late enough to get cold. Brrr.

Gamestop had a "midnight" release of the Switch, but I was too tired to wait in line (since I have work tomorrow) and I didn't preorder (they only had one day for preordering, which is a bit stupid IMO), so I have no idea if there'll be any extra in the store tomorrow.

First world FANDOM problem: I love a Transformer that has no figure for the character.

I mean yes he's a comics-only character.

But the DJD have figures, where's goddamn Pharma? I don't want a modified Starscream, I just want my morally ambiguous doctor to back against the wall while the DJD tower over him.

My cat was wrestling with me and managed to claw me right right down the side of my thumb from the first knuckle and about 3 inches down towards my wrist on the heel of my hand. There's a surprising amount of skin-wrinkling and movement that goes on in that area and it touches eeeeverything.

It's not a deep scratch and it's healing up nicely but I felt like a weiner having my entire right hand taken out of comission for a while by one teenie scratch. (Also it's both a stupid location for bandaging and it's hard to fit bandaids on a long scratch)
