WHY, POTC 5? WHY?

Disclaimer: I love Jack, PotC, it was my first true fandom experience, was in a wonderful community that has since 2006 died, etc etc

This new movie sounds like it was based off a fic summary I read 10 years ago, where are all the actual Caribbean folks (I've kept quiet long enough), also, why why why, CGI Jack is 10 years late to fulfill my teenage fantasies, etc etc

Also, I'm excited because this might mean a resurgence in fic/material of any sort, but I'm sad I'm not about the fandom anymore.: c I kind of wish I was, but that period has been laid to rest. I'll always love Jack, he'll always have a special place in my personal development, history and heart.

Just had to share. Anyone know that feeling? New material, New blood, but you're not about it like you once were? Sigh.

I have pretty much the same feeling about that movie (plus the lack of Norrington).

I'm hoping they resurrect him somehow, I mean, it's POTC. How many people have died and come back?

Also, I have only come to appreciate Norrie as I've gotten older. Disgraced rumpot Norrie stole my heart, the poor bastard.

The only thing that seems to be good about PotC 5 is my friends who are big Monkey Island fans keep pointing out how similar it is to a lot of the Monkey Island stuff. So I'm trying to look at it as a movie version of Monkey Island, instead of a new PotC
