Yeah, but like, 2 onscreen mins of a relationship? Sucked. He deserves better. And she seemed really interesting.

Of course, that's part of the problem: CM has a real issue with intelligent women who aren't in the core group. Most of their female characters are just helpless victims who scream and cry and don't try even the slightest bit to get themselves out of bad situations. It's frustrating to watch.

I think Hotch had a long-term girlfriend for a while and nothing bad happened. But then she moved to NYC. Morgan also had a really awesome girlfriend who was a nurse and I wanted to see a lot more of her because she was not only beautiful as heck but she pushed him some. But, again, they didn't show much of her, or of Hotch's girlfriend, and of course, Rossi's ex-wife and Erin both died.

The body count of women in this show is remarkable. I'm going to have to watch John Wick 2 at least 10 times to even things out.

Oh, yeah, I totally agree, he should've had much more time with her than what he got, especially since, as you said, we got to see Hotch and Morgan in happy relationships at one point, and now Rossi's got Hayden. It'd be nice to see Reid in something like that as well.

I liked Savannah, too, she was great and a really good match for Morgan. I'd like to think, had he stayed around on the show, we'd get to see more of her (presuming she didn't meet the same fate as the other men's wives/girlfriends, that is). I can understand keeping the romances kinda in the background in general (after all, Will and Kevin don't/didn't pop up very often on the show, either), simply because focus on cases and all, obviously.

But still. Yeah. I like these characters a lot, and I like it when we get to delve into their personal lives outside of work, and after all they've been through, they deserve some happiness outside of their scary and dangerous job, so yeah. It would be nice to see more of their relationships with their significant others, or let them get something like that, or whatever.

And yes, easing up on killing off women certainly wouldn't hurt matters, either.

Are we watching the same show? My main reason for liking it is because it has so many strong female victims. Victims who stay strong, or try to outsmart the unsubs, or fight back and sometimes even turn the tables. Granted, I can only speak for seasons one through eight, but still.

And the body count in general is remarkable, but of course, most people just count the women. Yeah, sorry, I've heard that one so often.

As for Reid's girlfriend, I liked that they did it that way. Forging a connection solely through telephone calls was something new and very Reid. Giving him a stereotype normal romance wouldn't have fit the character. Still sad that she died, though.

We definitely aren't watching the same show. I'm up to mid S10 now, shotgunning it, which perhaps makes it more evident. The female victims are repeatedly strapped down, raped, mutilated, stabbed, drowned, sliced, and most don't make even the most obvious efforts to save themselves. There are exceptions, of course. There are always excellent exceptions, I don't deny it. It's just...the preponderance is undeniable and doesn't speak well of the writer's creativity.

Also, I wouldn't say only women are killed in CM, just that the fact they insist on focusing so heavily on killing women women women and in such unusual, sick ways is, after a while, a statement in and of itself. Even if there are more women killed by serial killers than man in reality, why not bend that one stat for the sake of making the show less...well, misogynistic in the very definition of the word. You have to hate women to kill them, right?

Re: Reid, I loved the way he and Maeve began their relationship; I wasn't criticizing that, only that they never had a chance for any other kind, especially after all the soul-searching Reid did. It was a cheat and very manipulative.
