O_O Jeez, did you have parents who never let you leave the house or something? It's just, I've been homeschooled for the majority of my life (though I'm taking most of my classes at the local community college now), and I can't relate to that at all. So personally, I'm inclined to say that it probably wasn't homeschooling specifically that did it, but maybe lack of social interaction or something similar. It's true that as a homeschooler you have to seek out social interation more than someone who goes to school and is essentially forced to socialize whether they like it or not, but it's usually fairly easy to find open and friendly groups. Either way, I guess it's good that fandom helped you get over that.

Thank you for saying what I meant to earlier :D &hearts

Aw, I thought "FUCK OFF" sounded so articulate and classy! ;D

Especially with all-caps + no punctuation ;)

63's OP

I got socialized just as much as anyone else, the kind of schooling I got just fostered unattached feelings. Like I can see and meet as many people as I want and still never be part of the same world as them.

I just want to apologise for telling you to 'fuck off' earlier.

I'm sorry that you feel that way- I like being different by using capslock.

63, not OP

Try living out in the middle of nowhere. Awfully big chances for a homeschooled kid to seek out social interaction; try one of the random cows grazing outside, or Ol' Joe who lives 30 miles or so down the street. :D See? Totally easy, just like you said.

Actually, my (also homeschooled) cousins do live in the middle of nowhere: a farm on the very outskirts of Searcy, Arkansas. Look it up if you like. Of course, you don't really get the full effect of the fact that there is NOTHING there unless you actually go there, but just seeing some of the statistics can help paint a picture. Anyway, despite living in the "middle of nowhere", they have managed to form very solid friendships and have active social lives despite being homeschooled. In fact, they've formed a homeschool theatre group that I think had around twenty or thirty people when I last checked.

So yeah, it's not always easy, but it's possible. And homeschooling definitely isn't for everyone, and for people who live in near isolation, school might be a better option. But having a social life and being homeschooled at the same time is not impossible.

Also, if you're going to snark at me, please at least have the where-with-all to identify yourself. It's your choice if you'd like to be anonymous, obviously, but I do like to know who I'm talking to.
