See, I didn't mind the demonic deal except that it came completely out of left field and I really didn't like that it was all a result of her being molested as a child. Ugh, great, can't have a strong female character without her being sexually molested, can we? (Like it or not, she was a strong female, just ... you know, awkwardly written.)

I think I can handle Mary making a deal with a demon (although I don't think she did, the MO is all wrong) if they write it well but ... well, look at Bela. *sigh*

I didn't like Meg at first but she grew on me after a while. The same with Jo -- I loathed her at first, mostly because her character was uneven and after that argument with Ellen over her being able to hunt I was yelling at the TV, "You are free and eighteen, LEAVE, Jesus." I'll bet she's more interesting now that she's out of the roadhouse and allowed to hunt and we don't even get to see her.

Ooo, and Kathleen from "The Benders" was pretty awesome as well. I like it when they bring out awesome older female characters.

Agreed - the molested thing was a low blow. I was really hoping Bela ended up killing a sibling for selfish-ish reasons just so she mirrored Dean even more. Ah well.

I came into SPN late so Jo didn't bother me because I watched BUaBS first. I would like to know what she's up to now, but perhaps it should stay within the realm of fanfic so the writers don't uh, screw it up. I liked Meg specifically because I could tell as soon as she was with Sam that she was evil.

Kathleen was the best, especially since she WAS a grown, older woman and she was written to be a capable cop without there being emphasis on the fact that she was a "KICKASS FEMALE!!" Whenever someone starts talking about making female characters kickass girls first, and realistic second, it always falls apart for me.
Haley was good too. I even liked Nanci from this season, although they overdid the virgin-ness. (Writers, virgins don't necessarily act/dress like that, thanks.)

AMEN ON THAT. *fist bump*

Oh, man, there are so many writers I want to sit down and tell them, "You know all virgins aren't ugly or prudish or religious nuts or socially defective, right? A lot of us just have really shitty luck."

I did like Nancy, though. And Haley was definitely wicked.
