Of course there are misogynistic elements in some video games, but I think Atlus has proven many times over that they do not buy into female stereotypes.

I don't understand the dislike for her, as everyone makes mistakes; Junpei is as immature as she is when the story begins. So what? They're teenagers. Cut them some slack. It is epecially curious to hear it from those players who are fans of Isamu, a character who spends an entire game wallowing in his own self-absorption >_>

Can't believe I just wrote that ;_; Sorry, couldn't resist (even though I haven't played the game) Alright, the serious version is that emo characters will get the most love in Japan-related fandoms. It's sad, actually.

...Are we talking about the same thing? Just to clarify. I was talking about the characters people define as emo in general, AKA the characters who are usually troubled, have a lot of issues, are depressed, etc. are more popular. I was replying with characters like Sasuke (Naruto) or Soren (Fire Emblem, though he's probably not so much dark as rude) in mind. The reply I made to the above post was in jest which, in retrospect, might not be a good idea after all since I don't know Persona and was just intended to comment on general tendencies in fandom.

(And even then, the one I thought I was making a comment to was Takeba, not Junpei, since ariseishirou made a comment about a character, Isamu, drowning in self-absorbsion and yet is adored by fans.)

And I'm not into any Atlus fandom at all. \o/ So that's fine by me, ahaha. No hard feelings, right?

Emo is overused or overloaded or just loses its meaning. I couldn't (and can't) think of a word that gets the point of being moody, depressed, self-pitying, and all around pitiful without being too wordy.
