48. I-I actually hate to say it, but I get a little bit peeved when people do this too. I can understand they're probably doing it to haul in comments and such, but the fact that they could easily just post all the icons related to that fandom in the preview AS WELL AS leave a link back to the original icon post for anyone that wants to check out the rest of their icons is just very confusing.

62. You realize that all genres have an abundance of "over used" plots? You can use this same exact example for shoujo, seinen, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, mecha, etc. Plots are not the only thing that make up a series either. What about the drawing style? The pacing? The characters? The character development? It's one thing for series to have the same rough ideas, it's another to think they're identical copies of each other just because they both deal with pirates or ninjas. Get the hell off your pedestal and take your ignorance somewhere else.

69. Me too. I just recently got into House but I'm way too nervous to actually be an active part of the fandom. Plus, it's the only TV fandom I've ever been a part of. I think i'll just be content reading fic and raving about events in the show by myself. I think. ;;

What amuses me is that I may be misreading it, but the secret seems to me less like it's saying "these plots are overused!" and more "OMG THIS MAFIA(/pirates/ninjas/whatever) SERIES IS NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, SHUUUUUUNNNNah." Which is just terribly lulzy because... uh, shounen. XD;

I just think they fail most for dissing Cowboy Bebop of all things. And I'm one of the Reborn fans they were trying to bait XD

I KNOW. Besides, shounen is technically directed at a younger male audience. Do you honestly think they're going to be checking on historical accuracy in whichever series they happen to be interested in, like Reborn or Naruto or One Piece? I DON'T THINK SO. That's like going to the theaters to see a movie you felt you'd enjoy, only to come out of it whining and ranting because "THOSE GUNS WERE NOT INVENTED DURING THAT ERA. AND THOSE CLOTHES WERE NOTHING LIKE THE CLOTHES THOSE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE WORN BACK THEN." *headdesk*

And honestly, I've yet to seen a shounen series with the type of plot Reborn has, or Cowboy Bebop, or One Piece. I'm a rather big fan of shounen, but I don't make it my goal in life to read and watch every single shounen series there is out there so I could be wrong. What the OP was ranting about was the overall outline for shounen plots. What matters in the end is how you alter or tweek around with that outline to make something unique and different for an audience to enjoy it.

Oh, sad thing is, there's tons of people who do that. OH MY GOD THE 300 MOVIE SUCKED SO BAD, THOSE OUTFITS WERE INACCURATE AND THERE'S NO WAY MEN OF THAT TIME PERIOD AND CULTURE WOULD BE SO SHAVEN THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN HAIR ALL OVER THEM n-no joke I saw a bunch of people complaining about that.

But... yes. It's shounen. IT'S SHOUNEN. WHERE ~~THE BEARS LIVE~~ CHARACTERS POWER UP AND CAN BLOW UP WHOLE PLANETS. It'd be less fun if the mafia couldn't catch on fire, pirates couldn't use their bodies to become slingshots, and... I honestly have no idea what their beef could even be about Cowboy Bebop. And you're exactly right- in fact, to take it a step further, I'm gonna agree with the person who said that the OP wasn't even describing a plot, because plots can't be described in one word. S/he was stating a gimmick, and that'd be like saying "oh my god there are TWINS in this series THE CHARACTERS ARE SO CLICHE!!"

... Which I believe I have also seen before. Orz fandom. ): I don't know how some people can enjoy... anything. Maybe they enjoy hating things? Meh.

Yes, I'm aware that there are indeed people like that in this world, which is very saddening. There's no way anyone can truly be happy with that kind of butthurt, knit-picky nature. This is ENTERTAINMENT we're talking about. Not rocket science. There's nothing serious at all about any of this. Shounen is meant to be engaging and fun and goofy and unpredictable. No one is waiting at the end to quiz you about anything about it. Mafia experts, 18th century experts, Roman Empire experts, animu experts, etc need to calm the fuck down. So you know lots of facts and stuff. BIG DEAL. Take that information with you into the real world, where it'll get you an education and a career. Take it to fandom, and all you'll get is on a lot of people's nerves.

FREAKIN SECONDED. I have never seen anything remotely like Neuro, and I doubt I or anyone else ever will.
