I'm like... 95% sure that's not something the movie is trying to say. You could make an argument that it's implied, in a out-of-the-way kind of way, but I don't think it's intentional at all - it's more one of those weird implications that accidentally arises sometimes when you try to take some complicated big idea and turn it into a literal horror movie premise. It's definitely not something the filmmakers try to focus on, and I don't think it's the intended reading or the emotional center of the movie or anything at all like that
