I guess my thinking is that your attention span changes for whatever reason, and that's why you spend more time on fanfic - not that fanfic ruins your attention span. You get older and more busy and more distracted and have less time to sit down and read, and so you read less, and fanfic is way easier to deal with under those conditions.

I dunno. It just never seemed to me like fanfic was causing that.
