da

Even if you only have to pee three times in a workday, those three times aren't necessarily going to coincide with your scheduled breaks. If someone has to go at 1:30 because that's when their lunch drink processes through, it's asinine to expect them to wait until 2:30 because that's when their next break is set for.

Ah, hadn't thought of it that way! Very good point.

But then it's also not unheard of. I manage people for my job and sure they can call up and I can try to get them bathroom breaks, but generally speaking they have to time that for their breaks. Because it's just not always possible to get in there. I don't know, there's just a lot of jobs out there where you don't always get to walk away to the bathroom on your own schedule. Shit thing to do, sure, and if OP can find a new job good on them!

How many jobs besides like, the military and police/firefighters make it absolutely impossible to take a pee break?

Hi, coming in randomly to this discussion the next day....

But I've actually had quite a few jobs where you weren't allowed to leave your job unless it was an emergency. And bathroom breaks were not considered emergencies. Store clerk (mostly because I was a teenager and my boss was a power-tripping asshole...), warehouse worker, assembly person or packer, teacher and teacher's assistant are some I've personally worked.

OPs situation sounds more like power-tripping asshole rather than related to the job unfortunately.

ugh. I guess I was sort of being in denial there that so many managers are that bad. But I guess they are :(

and people act like labor issues aren't important...YIKES

Warehouse can sorta be like that, though my job is far more lenient about it because, during the summer here especially, they URGE drinking water to stay hydrated and cool and that can lead to a few more bathroom breaks than would be normal. They'd have lawsuits otherwise, heh.

I normally only have to run maybe twice a night, so three times is a bit much unless I've just drank a lot of water/gatorade.

edit: Besides, with the turn over rate we have here, the people who constantly walk off and end up with a 30 minute "bathroom break" don't tend to be employed long.
