Again, maybe I'm just weird. All of those have me thinking of the books rather than the movies. I assume your point was that most of those have people thinking of the movies first? Which is weird to me since Lewis Carroll and J.R.R Tolkien are such huge names.

Huge names for people 30+ maybe. The younger you go, the more likely to get people who, if they know the names, it's mostly because they saw them in the credits of those movies they like.

Big names, yes, but apparently a shockingly large number of people have not actually read Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass, for example.

I am glad to hear you think of the books first on those, though XD

Yeah, I've never read the Alice books, only seen the Disney cartoon. Only made about 10 pages into Tolkien. I know the books exist but they're always the last thing I think of.

Again, I really do get your frustration with this. I have books of my own that I love but people don't even realize were books. I just get confused when the examples other people bring up don't seem unknown at all to me.
