Not OP, but for the first two or three years with a ship, I enjoy about 98% of the fanfic I read about them.

Before I read a fic I check the kudos level as an indicator of basic writing competence. Then I read the synopsis to gauge content. Then I check the tags to make sure that none of my squicks are present. And then I'm good to go.
