I know what you mean. I like Doctor Who, but these last couple of seasons.... Eesh. And the stuff that used to be obnoxious fanwank, and just plain wank material, being canon now. It does affect how I view the old stuff, it does diminish it. I just walked away from DW fandom and turned off the tv set though. No point screaming about it.

Yeah. I guess the core issue of Ruined My Childhood is not about if new material can affect your feelings on the old stuff (it can!) but on if that means you're entitled to the new thing not existing at all. I think it's the entitlement that annoys people. If I go "I wish Doctor Who had ended after 10's run" I know I'm being selfish and tons of people got and will get lots of enjoyment out of 11+.

Right, but unless you're a Disney princess, you can wish as much as you want and you're not going to make seasons 11+ disappear. As far as I can tell, the entitlement goes both ways a lot of the time. You're allowed to not like a thing that I like. You're even allowed to ignore the parts you don't like in your fic, art, rewatch parties, whatever. It's entitled to go into my space and shit on the thing I like because you think it sucks. But, it's just as entitled for me to constantly harp on you for not liking it, tell you you're "not a real fan" if you don't like 11 or don't want the show to run forever no matter what, and continually bombard your space with things you don't want and don't like because I think you should like them. Let's all just like what we like.
