Have you considered the ridiculously high quality and variety in fandom?

Perhaps the problem is that you're thinking of it as a bad thing that novels aren't the main way you're becoming into contact with new stories. So? It's not LESS to find a different way into your literature needs. You're not less mature and discerning. I think it made youyou more aware of what it is that you like verses what you don't and are ls likely to waste your time on an original novel that won't give you want you want or as high a quality experience or what you want in content. Not to mention in terms of quality? Fanfic doesnt actually offer LESS than published books. It offers MORE. It offers stories from more perspectives, with more emotionally mature and believable characters, better writing, better pornography with easier access for less cost than original novels. YouMaybe you're less likely to pick up a novel because fic taught you what you wanted and that you didnt have to settle for what a publishing house decided was good enough.
