14. It's hard reading secrets like this because on one hand, there's a part of me that agrees with you, and on the other, I've been in the older-but-unemployed-and-living-with-parents category. It's tough enough without the judgment train. In fact, I still am in that category somewhat because I still live with my parents. I live with them because I get along with them and it's cheaper for us all to live together than separately. (It's hard to understand why in some parts of the world, living with one's parents carries such a loser stigma when it's really more economically beneficial.)

It's hard not to judge people and their situations but I get the feeling from this secret that you're somewhat reveling in your dislike of this person. I don't know what to think about that.

Yeah, until I started chatting with people from the Americas, I never knew that living with your folks is somewhere supposed to be a bad thing.

In fact, in my country, the 'normality' is for people to live with their parents until they get married. Yes, not the 'nerds', but the vast majority of people.
Most people here can't afford such huge luxuries and expenses just because they've become adults. Not to mention the fucking huge unemployment.

Here in Latin America the custom is to live with your parents until you get married, I don't understand why it's considered like the mark of the loser in the U.S. I mean, I know that's the way things work there, but seriously, it's your parents, what's so wrong about it?

I agree with you. The only real reason that I'm feeling a pull to move out is because, even though I quite like my mom, get along with her, and like doing shit with her... Well, the longer I live here, the more I feel like we shouldn't be living under the same roof because we tend to get in screaming arguments if left together in the house with nothing to do for enough time. We're both too highly strung and obsessive-compulsive to work well in a household.

But living with your parents... That's great if you don't drive each other nuts. My family lived next door to my aunt and grandma (who lived together, teh horrors!) the whole time I was growing up, and we saw each other so much it was like we all lived together. And I have wonderful memories of growing up in a lovely extended family.

(And I even think grown children living rent-free is just fine. My parents don't pay each other rent, so why should I? We're the same family unit so it seems kinda silly.)
