op 14.

I wasn't talking about someone who is incapable of work; I'm talking about someone who is and would rather not. Even her parents want her to grow up and GTFO, but are too nice to just kick her out.

I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else who is in a similar situation, but I never said the girl was disabled, mentally unhealthy or physically ill. Why people are assuming that is a little beyond me ...

Because people often jump to the conclusion that if someone lives at home or hasn't got a job, they're a "loser". The situation's usually more complicated than that.

Many moons ago, I went through a patch of dodging employment and living at home myself when my honours degree collapsed. My self-esteem was crushed by the failure at university, and it only got worse when I did start to look for work and couldn't find anything. There were multiple factors - I was young and st00pid and more interested in writing fanfic than job application letters, but I was also a bit of a psychological mess, inexperienced, clueless, underqualified and overqualified. It took me six months to climb out of that hole, and my parents' help and encouragement was invaluable.

tl;dr: Do you know this person and their family well enough to be sure it's just laziness and/or immaturity?

Similar situation here, only right now, rather than in the past. I stopped talking to my best friend because I was too fucking ashamed to face her. Fortunately she's an awesome person and not only didn't resent me for the time I stopped talking to her, she's also encouraging me to try and get my life back in track.

I hope the person being talked about in the secret has someone like that, too.

You'll make it. Be determined, but give yourself time.

Maybe because most people have good reasons for not being independent or employed. Most commonly, health issues, culture, unemployment. Because it makes sense that the majority of people cannot have the luxury to avoid all this due to 'laziness'.

Yes, I'm sure you know the situation of someone you dislike over the internet like the back of your hand.

What bothers me is that you're holding onto a friend who pisses you off and hating on her in secret for the sake of being a Nice Girl in public. Honestly, she'd be better off if you just told her you wanted to stop being friends, then at least you're not stabbing her in the back.
